NBA “Dining Table”

The Chinese New Year in any written records before the historical era has been spread to the present, the history is very long. There are four traditional festivals in China: Chinese New Year, Tomb-sweeping Day, Dragon Boat Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival. Chinese New Year is the most important festival for Chinese people. The Chinese New Year is the only holiday that people at work can have off from work in China. Because of the to policy, Chinese New Year is the only festival that people from work can take a 3 to 7 days break, and that is the only time in a year when the family can all gather together and have a dinner.

NBA is the National Basketball association, it allows people from anywhere any race any nationalities to show their talents on the big stage. NBA’s first CCVT-5 broadcast began in 1987, the beginning of the Michael Jordan era. The first basketball player, Wang zhizhi, from china went to NBA was in 1999. Later on there more great basketball players from china landed in NBA, Mengke bateer, Yao ming, Yi jianlian, Zhou qi. Since then, NBA started to become popular in China, and slowly there are more and more people watching NBA.

In this Video, NBA perfectly used Chinese New Year combining with NBA players to show respect to the biggest festival in China, and also tries to express the idea of people from all over the world is welcome to join in the NBA which is very cultural diversed. From the very beginning of the video, we can generally see that the two main color tone in the video is red and white. White presenting white people’s culture( United States’s culture) and red presenting Chinese culture, that perfectly illustrated the bond between Untied states and China. On top of that, from the video we can see that there are only two nationalities of people, which are Americans and Chinese, that further more explains the bond that NBA is trying to make. Adding to the bond regarding to the nationalities, there are clearly James Harden who is dark skinned, Stephen Curry with light skin, and Jeremy Lin who is a American born Chinese, Yellow skin. This perfectly made the bond showing that no matter what race or nationalities you are, you could still be part of the NBA, the Chinese New Year, and the big family.
